Q. What is the minimum age you can get tattooed?

18 years and over, as dictated by the TATTOOING OF MINORS ACT 1969. No exceptions.

Q. Does it hurt?

All tattoos hurt a little. Once you're tattoo has started, endorphins (your body's natural painkiller) will kick in and you'll start to relax. It's important to prepare your body by eating properly and bringing a sugary drink with you. We tattoo lots of people every week and never get anyone who stops halfway through because they can't continue.

Q. How much does it cost?

How long is a piece of string? Price varies according to size, complexity and time involved. Larger work is usually done at an hourly rate. Don't limit yourself by putting a price limit on your tattoo. We work hard to to do the best work we can and if we feel we're being rushed, we get a little grumpy.

Q. Do I need an appointment to get tattooed?

For large work, yes. For smaller tattoos we can sometimes fit you in at shorter notice.
Call us on 01606 352022 to ask where we're upto in our diaries.

Q. How do I go about getting a tattoo designed?

We are very busy people and only design for people who are definitely getting tattooed. We don't sell our designs or give them out to take to show your mum. We try to get designs done as quickly as possible, but as we have families, please be patient with us.

Q. Can a tattoo be removed?

It can, but being lasered feels like being snapped with an elastic band from the moon. It sucks ass, so it's important to make sure you get the right design and placement before you start.

Q. Can unwanted designs be covered with another tattoo?

Yes. Cover up work can be challenging, depending on the design to be covered, and what the new design will be. Usually the new design has to be larger and darker, but a good cover up doesn't have to be a solid black square. Only darker colours cover (you can't tattoo white or flesh tone over a tattoo to cover it) but by using some imagination. We can recommend laser removal practitioners for work that can't be directly covered.

Q. What makes a tattoo fade?

Mainly the sun. Lighter colours tend to fade first; white, yellow, light blue etc. The quality of pigments used and how well the tattoo was applied are direct factors in the longevity of a tattoo. A top-quality, professional tattoo will last a lifetime with good initial care And a little sun block. Also the lighter the skin tone, the brighter the colours will be.

Q. Are there any areas you can't put a tattoo?

We don't tattoo your hands, neck or faces. Don't ask.

Q. How long before I can resume normal activities (swimming etc) after getting tattooed?

About two weeks.
